In this role as a Team Lead Transmission Lines, you will provide leadership to a specialist engineering team as well as technical support to the Infrastructure team. You will also coach and develop team members in technical quality, compliance, performance and value for money of all assets in the Contracted Asset Portfolio.
With a Hybrid split Office / WFH, this role can be based in Southbank and is part of the Development & Future Networks Engineering team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Lead and manage a diverse team of Transmission Line Engineers (Civil, Structural, Electrical, etc.)
- Develop scopes and specifications for design and construction for new transmission lines and network augmentations
- Provide technical, commercial, design and asset management support within the Transmission Lines engineering discipline to internal and external stakeholders, supporting AusNet’s growth through the energy transition.
- Develop concept, tender and detail design of transmission lines including:
- Line design with PLS-CADD
- Structures design and modelling using PLS-POLE and TOWER
- Foundation design
- Support project activities such as estimating, design reviews, tender evaluation, site visits and inspections
- Evaluate options and make recommendations for complex technical problems requiring inventiveness to depart from or adapt accepted practices and procedures for which it is necessary to modify established guidelines and devise new approaches.
- Assess and manage risks associated with Infrastructure projects and ensure they are managed efficiently through either technical or commercial means.
- Lead in the development and maintenance of engineering Standards and designs, to ensure network compliance with legal, technical regulatory and safety obligations.
- Develop scopes and specifications for design and construction
- Foster continuous improvement to work processes, procedures and quality
- Assist the Engineering Manager in resource planning and identification of challenges in technical capability as well as effective management of resource.
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Prior experience across engineering leadership, as well as design and construction with the business acumen and ability to meet engineering design excellence
- Degree in Engineering or tertiary qualification with preferably >10+ years’ experience in utilities with proficiency in design and asset management.
- Excellent understanding of transmission line, structure and foundation designs in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, industry standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER and AutoCAD software
- Proven capability in developing conceptual plans into feasible designs and producing high quality design deliverables.
- Considerable knowledge of key engineering disciplines and their impacts on Terminal Station & Substation design and equipment selection.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise with project related teams such as project managers, construction contractors, communications, real time systems team and other Network Service Providers
- Use of foundation design software such as L-Pile, BH Pile, and Geo5 and use of structure design software such as SpaceGASS, and Structural Toolkit
- Prior experience in the design of existing transmission network augmentation
- Experience in the transmission material procurement including fabrication process, factory inspection, quality assurance etc.
