We’re entering an exciting phase of growth, and we’re looking for a Substation Engineer to help us lead the way. This role will see you providing engineering expertise for AusNet’s distribution network primary substation equipment to ensure that we optimise the cost, risk and performance over the asset lifecycle. This role is based in Southbank and is part of our Distribution Asset Management team.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Ensure optimum reliability and availability of substation assets by developing and implementing asset management strategies and practices
- Provide an overview of substation asset performance, leading to the provision of appropriate and timely advice for the overall effective management of substation assets
- Review and assess the condition of primary equipment classes for distribution network assets, with a focus on power transformers and distribution transformers, as well as circuit breakers, instrument transformers, disconnectors, modular HV switchgear etc
- Coordinate substation asset refurbishment, replacement and maintenance projects as required
- Conduct asset failure investigations and provide engineering recommendations
- Provide inputs into contingency and risk management plans to ensure appropriate substation asset management decisions are made
- Manage consultants, contractors and other service providers as they relate to substation assets
You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:
- Degree qualified in Engineering (Electrical or equivalent)
- Demonstrated asset management experience
- Understanding of asset management leading practices, frameworks and relevant standards
- Understanding of relevant Australian regulatory frameworks and legislation
- Ability to coordinate failure and incident investigations
- Knowledge of distribution primary components, equipment, and technologies, with a focus on power transformers and distribution transformer
- Knowledge of relevant condition monitoring and assessment techniques for power, distribution transformers and instrument transformers
- Professional body membership: National Engineering Registration
