In this role, you’ll help shape the electricity sub‑transmission network that delivers power to 802,000 customers across eastern and north‑eastern Victoria and Melbourne’s north and east. You’ll work across a diverse portfolio covering strategic and future network planning, regulatory and compliance activities, and the development of major investment proposals.
Based in Southbank, the role sits within the Transmission & Sub‑Transmission Planning Team and offers flexible hybrid working arrangements.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Undertake comprehensive network planning processes to evaluate short- and long-term capability of the sub-transmission network and identify emerging capacity, reliability, and voltage constraints Use probabilistic planning criteria to determine economic solutions to emerging sub-transmission network constraints.
- Use reliability planning framework to ensure reliability outcomes are embedded in sub-transmission network development and investment decisions
- Plan for the energy transition taking into account macro trends such as electrification, distributed energy resources, renewable integration, and the impacts of climate change on network development Assist delivering Electricity Distribution Price Review (EDPR) technical inputs on time and to required quality
- Produce network investment plans and proposals for the regulated transmission and sub-transmission networks, including developing optimised and prioritised major station rebuild programs (transmission) and network au
- Perform power system analysis and contingency assessments, including load flow, fault level, and system security studies, to assess network performance under normal and credible contingency conditions.
You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, with a PhD highly regarded
- Experience in using electricity network analysis tools or relevant software (such as PSSE, PowerFactory and/or PSCAD) and interpreting results. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python is highly desirable.
- A passion for facilitating and accelerating the energy transition while delivering our customers’ energy needs today
- Understanding and knowledge of contemporary electricity network planning, asset management practices and overarching markets.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Building and managing relationship with internal and external stakeholders
