Through purpose and people - not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.

Are you ready to shape the future of energy?

  • Lead business critical transmission initiatives

  • Drive governance, delivery, risk management and benefits realisation

We have an opportunity for a Strategic Initiatives Manager to lead the coordination and delivery of some of the most significant strategic priorities across AusNet's Transmission business.

Reporting to the General Manager Strategy & Regulation, this role is based in Melbourne and forms part of our Transmission Strategy & Regulation team.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of Victoria's energy transition, leading complex initiatives that influence the future direction of the transmission network and support the delivery of nationally significant energy infrastructure.

You will be responsible for translating strategic priorities into executable plans, aligning diverse stakeholders, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring initiatives are delivered effectively through strong governance and disciplined execution.

What you’ll help deliver

  • Lead the planning, mobilisation, governance and delivery coordination of complex strategic initiatives across the Transmission business.
  • Establish and manage program governance, delivery roadmaps, risk management frameworks, reporting processes, milestones and decision pathways.
  • Coordinate and influence senior stakeholders across Transmission, Group Operations, Finance, Legal, Risk, Procurement, Digital, People & Safety and external organisations including regulators, customers and industry bodies.
  • Manage initiative budgets, forecasts, commercial considerations, benefits realisation, risk registers, compliance obligations and executive reporting to support successful delivery outcomes.

You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, supported by substantial experience leading large scale strategic initiatives, transformation programs, infrastructure projects or business critical change programs.
  • Strong understanding of energy, transmission, utilities, infrastructure or other highly regulated environments, including governance, safety, operational risk, reliability and stakeholder obligations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex stakeholder engagement and negotiation activities with senior executives, regulators, government agencies, customers, unions, delivery partners and specialist advisers.
  • Strong commercial, financial and risk management capability, including budget management, business case development, forecasting, benefits realisation, compliance and executive level reporting.
