We have an opportunity for a Statutory Reporting Manage to join our team. In this role, you will lead AusNet’s statutory reporting, external audit coordination and technical accounting governance for the Group. The role ensures high-quality financial statements, audit-ready reporting, robust accounting advice and clear /Audit and Risk Committee reporting on significant accounting matters.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Lead statutory reporting delivery: Own the preparation, review and delivery of Group financial statements, including associated analytical reviews and due diligence processes.
- Project manage external audit: Lead the statutory audit process, coordinate audit evidence and responses, manage issue resolution and support timely audit completion.
- Own technical accounting governance: Prepare and review technical accounting positions, support accounting policy compliance and provide advice on complex transactions and accounting standards.
- Deliver Board and Audit and Risk Committee reporting: Prepare high-quality papers on significant accounting matters, key judgements, audit outcomes and reporting developments.
- Lead implementation of new accounting standards and reporting changes: Assess the impact of new or amended accounting standards and coordinate implementation across Group Finance and relevant business stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership and uplift capability: Coach and guide Senior Financial Accountant team members to develop their knowledge, including providing coaching, setting quality expectations and coordinating delivery across the Group Reporting function.
You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:
- CAANZ membership required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline
- Big 4 audit and/or industry experience highly regarded
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, with the ability to interpret and apply Australian Accounting Standards to complex transactions and reporting matters.
- Experience preparing or reviewing statutory financial statements, preferably in a listed, regulated or complex group environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing external audit processes, including audit planning, evidence coordination and issue resolution.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise and well-supported papers for senior stakeholders, including executives, Board committees or auditors.
- Strong analytical capability, with the ability to review financial information, identify issues and explain key movements or judgements.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across Finance, business teams and external advisers.
- Experience coaching or guiding finance team members through complex reporting, audit or technical accounting deliverables.
- SAP/S4HANA, consolidation or financial reporting systems experience desirable.
- Experience with Climate Change and Sustainability AASB Reporting is a bonus however not essential.
