We have an exciting opportunity for a Transmission Lines Engineer to be at the forefront of shaping the future of energy.


You'll provide essential engineering and technical support to our Development & Future Network (D&FN) teams, driving Business Development, Deal Execution, Preliminary Works, Project Delivery, and Operation and Maintenance.

With a <3/2 Hybrid split>, this role is based in Melbourne and is part of the Lines team.

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Provide technical, commercial, and design support to stakeholders, aiding AusNet’s growth in the energy transition.
  • Develop concept, tender, and detailed designs of transmission lines.
  • Design lines with PLS-CADD, and model structures using PLS-POLE and TOWER.
  • Create foundation designs and develop scopes and specifications for design and construction.
  • Support project activities including estimating, design reviews, tender evaluation, site visits, and inspections.
  • Assist in maintaining engineering standards to ensure network compliance with legal, technical, regulatory, and safety obligations while achieving growth targets.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members, sharing knowledge and experience.


You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • A tertiary qualification in civil or structural engineering
  • A registered profession engineer in Victoria
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in transmission line design within the power transmission industry, including construction experience.
  • Excellent understanding of transmission lines, structure, and foundation design per Australian and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER, and AutoCAD software.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, external customers, government, and the public.
  • High level of organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience with foundation design software (L-Pile, BH Pile, Geo5), structure design software (SpaceGASS, Structural Toolkit), existing transmission network augmentation, and transmission lines material procurement and quality assurance. (preferred)
