This role will see you providing engineering and technical support in the delivery of transmission substations projects, with specialist knowledge on protection and control systems.

You will work with internal stakeholders, and Design and Construction Delivery Partners to ensure projects are delivered in a cost-efficient way and to high standards of quality.

With a Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in our Southbank office and is part of the Design Management, Transmission Delivery team.

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

 

  • Project engineering in a Transmission Design Management team
  • Provide technical support into Customer and Company initiated projects across AusNet’s Transmission network
  • Apply protection and control technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projects
  • Develop scopes and specifications for design and construction. Review and assess brownfield and greenfield electricity substation designs, providing technical input into staging, constructability, operability, maintainability and safety in design covering:
    • Protection scheme and control system designs
    • Protection relay settings and configuration
  • Contribute to the development of scopes and estimates for Transmission substation projects ensuring cost effective and constructible business cases can be delivered, including:
    • Supporting the development of project schedules and risk registers
    • Providing engineering input into commercial offers on customer offers
  • Identify opportunities to develop new or improved standards and to ensure the timely delivery of efficient solutions of complex technical engineering designs and standards, taking ownership of process improvement initiatives and development of new methods where necessary

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

 

  • Detailed technical knowledge and extensive experience in electricity networks engineering
  • Simplify complex engineering analysis for non-engineers (eg summarising key decision-making during delivery of detailed design)
  • Detailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principals with extensive design and construction knowledge covering performance, functionality, operation, maintenance and risks
  • Extensive experience working in electricity substations engineering, project delivery and/or design role
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environment that AusNet operates within
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support colleagues and team members to achieve common goals
  • Proven project team leadership skills
  • Proven capability in development of concepts and/or delivery of designs
  • Proven ability to build and grow relationships and partnerships across divisions within Ausnet as well as with external suppliers, customers and regulatory bodies
