Join our team and take the lead in driving strategic and tactical risk management across AusNet’s diverse operations, teams, and assets. You'll work closely with senior leaders to anticipate and manage key risks, protecting and growing value while shaping the future of energy.
With your business acumen, risk expertise, and strong stakeholder engagement, you'll play a crucial role in evolving AusNet’s risk culture—empowering us to lead the energy transition.
With a 3/2 Hybrid split Office / WFH, this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Compliance, Risk & Corporate Affairs team
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Connect the dots - Partner with the business to identify key risks and opportunities for the successful delivery of strategic objectives across the organisation.
- Be the Business Partner of choice - Use your strong stakeholder engagement skills to partner with the business to develop and monitor Risk and Assurance Plans that support Business Units with successfully achieving their objectives as well as consistent application of the Risk Framework.
- Enable excellence in risk outcomes - Provide insightful solutions to improve the risk and control environment including recommending fit for purpose actions which systemically and sustainably address identified control deficiencies and manage risks within appetite.
- Uplift risk culture and capability - Coach and support leadership teams to embed a culture of risk awareness and risk focus in decision making.
- Add risk value - Provide risk insights, on themes, threats or opportunities to leadership teams and relevant governance forums to support the appropriate management of risk.
- Provide company-wide risk leadership - Lead the implementation of company-wide risk initiatives across the business as well as fit for purpose risk management practices that are integrated into core business processes.
- Provide insights to continuously improve - Lead assurance reviews to test controls and identify opportunities to better manage risks, sharing learnings across relevant areas of the business and collaborate with stakeholders on control uplift plans.
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, law, or accounting (or similar)
- Demonstrated experience in a risk leadership role (Risk Management, Compliance, or Governance) with proven ability to provide direction and influence stakeholders.
- You will possess strong commercial acumen to understand business priorities, together with the ability to guide teams through reviews and change management initiatives.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the energy, utilities, manufacturing, oil & gas or telecommunications industry
- Demonstrated experience in the strategic and tactical application of risk management principles in accordance with ISO 31000 risk management, including identification, assessment and treatment
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in enterprise-wide risk management
- Understanding of risk and assurance processes
