An excellent opportunity awaits for a Senior Project Procurement Manager whose primary purpose will be to maximise value from suppliers through leading market intelligence, insights, best in class sourcing, contracting and category management processes to meet the needs of projects.

 

You will deliver new sources of value beyond cost (e.g. innovation, time to market, risk management) to drive competitiveness and customer satisfaction in a project environment.

 

Leading and influencing critical business decisions related to project expenditures is a key factor for success in this role.

 

AusNet promotes flexible working arrangements. This role will be based at our Southbank office amongst key project stakeholders with a hybrid split option to also work remotely from home and/or other AusNet locations.

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Lead procurement strategy in major projects to ensure procurement meet the requirements for the project and/or category initiative
  • Develop the project pipeline highlighting category demand to identify long term initiatives and to prioritise activities that yield long-term added value
  • Improve speed to market and cost driver analysis on critical project spend categories 
  • Manage all strategic sourcing initiatives (tendering, negotiation, contract management) for the relevant projects and coordinate efforts with support functions and provide direction to Sourcing Specialists
  • Manage the evaluation and negotiation process, incorporating technical, commercial, and operating model outcomes
  • Complete the contract development process and support commercial contract variations / renegotiations with suppliers as required by the business
  • Own key supplier relationships and strategies for allocated categories and projects

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Extensive experience in a range of Procurement or Procurement Management roles within Project environments
  • Tertiary background in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience/ knowledge)
  • Leader in keeping across market insights and trends from a procurement perspective and demonstrating category knowledge
  • Recent and solid experience in the utilities industry, preferably within construction or engineering categories
  • Knowledge of financial budgeting and planning
  • A strategic mindset, with a focus on market intelligence, continuous improvement and analytics
  • A dynamic approach to engaging with diverse stakeholders both technical and corporate, and the ability to bring them on the procurement journey
  • Competency with procurement enterprise systems (e.g. ERP systems, e-Procurement tools, Ariba) an advantage
  • Professional qualification/certification from related professional body (e.g. Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)) an advantage
