We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Group Operations team. In this role, you’ll lead the delivery of key business projects from start to finish — from design and build through to testing, implementation, and making sure the project is fully embedded in the business.

 

You'll be responsible for creating clear project plans and business cases, locking in timelines and milestones, identifying risks early, and keeping everything on track — on time, on budget, and safely delivered. Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, you’ll build strong relationships and help teams stay aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

 

This role offers a flexible 3/2 hybrid working model (Southbank office and work-from-home), with occasional travel as needed.

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

 

  • Ensures appropriate Governance frameworks and accountabilities are defined and in place
  • Delivers in accordance with the AusNet Project Management Framework, Tools, Processes
  • Maintains awareness of current business standards and processes and ensures all projects activities comply with the standards
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen including the development of business cases for funding approval. procurement and supply chain (as required by project)
  • Provides leadership, expertise and guidance to key stakeholders in project managing delivery of business/technology initiatives
  • Consideration of customer needs and customer experience targets, as driven by business requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, build and grow stakeholder/vendor relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support project team to achieve targets
  • Safe delivery of assigned projects
  • Effective project finalisation and handover to business as usual, with supporting training and documentation
  • Actively collaborates to share insights, lessons learned and wins widely with others
     

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

 

  • University degree in Business, Engineering or adjacent field
  • PMI, AIPM or AXELOS Program and Project Management Qualification or Certification
  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end project management
  • Proven experience delivering business projects e.g. business operations, operational excellence, workplace/property, compliance.
  • Strong commercial acumen including business case development, socialisation and approval.
  • Proven experience with implementing organisational change (people, process and technology)
  • Significant stakeholder management up to and including Executive & General Manager
  • Well-developed report writing and presentation skills
  • Effective interpersonal, negotiating and facilitating skills
