We have an opportunity for a Senior Project Development Manager to take the driver’s seat and provide leadership on our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) initiatives.

Lead the development of BESS projects across Victoria and NSW, managing a portfolio from early assessment to commercial close.

This opportunity has become available and will contribute to the once-in-a-lifetime energy transition by delivering key BESS projects.

 

With a 3/2 Hybrid split, this role is based in our Melbourne CBD office  and is part of the Storage Division, Distributed Energy, Development & Future Networks team.

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Leadership of the Project Development function within the Storage division
  • Management of Project Development Managers and/or Assistant Project Development Managers within the team
  • Project Management of some projects directly within the portfolio and oversight of those managed by direct reports
  • Development of a portfolio of BESS projects including scopes, specifications, schedules, capex & opex profiles, delivery methodology, O&M strategy, etc., to deliver optimum commercial outcomes
  • The delivery of BESS projects within allocated budgets in a timely, efficient, and effective manner, involving managing project teams of multidisciplinary internal and external resources
  • Develop and implement fit-for-purpose standards and specifications for the Energy Storage portfolio
  • Development of project execution plans including timelines, costs, risk assessments, communication of project financials, and progress reports in a consistent manner across the assigned projects
  • Provide leadership in developing sound relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Manage, track, and report on the progress of assigned projects through to financial close and the execution of contracts with clients
  • Management of on-foot contracts and current or potential contractors, requisitions, orders, and invoices associated with projects

 

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • A tertiary qualification (or equivalent certification) in Project Management or Engineering
  • Experience in project management in energy storage, major projects, renewables, or a similar utilities/energy industry
  • Experience in a leadership/senior project management role, leading project teams of internal and external stakeholders and direct and indirect project resources
  • Commercial acumen to understand commercial impacts on the business and work with/support Commercial teams to achieve commercial growth goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage, motivate, influence, and drive outcomes from stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven experience in energy storage programs of work
