The Renewable Energy - Senior Project Development Manager will be directly responsible for the management of a portfolio of development projects, from preliminary works up until commercial close and handover to delivery.

 

As a Senior Project Development Manager, you will lead a team of Project Development Managers, providing them with guidance with the management of their projects. As a senior member of the team, you will report to the Portfolio Program Director,  working this role to shape the effective delivery of development projects.   

 

The portfolio will consist of high voltage transmission lines and terminal stations that connect large-scale renewable energy assets to the electricity grid, as well as utility-scale batteries.

 

The Project Development stage encompasses all the activities between concept design and commencement of construction, including tender design, selection of contractors, procurement of long-lead items, planning approvals, land and easements, negotiation of contracts with the generators and the Australian Energy Market Operator.

 

This position will be part of the coordination of a broad and multidisciplinary team of high performing professionals in ensuring opportunities are converted into investments and the risks associated with design, construction and ongoing operations & maintenance are understood and managed. With a 3/2 Hybrid split Office / WFH , this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Infrastructure Storage Division, Development & Future Networks team. 

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Managing the delivery of a portfolio of infrastructure services, Early Works and bid development projects within the allocated budgets in a timely, efficient and effective manner. The role involves managing project teams of multidisciplinary internal and external resources. A typical Early Works team consists of engineering, procurement, commercial, land, delivery, planning, environment, stakeholder and regulatory resources.
  • Direct management of larger strategic network augmentation projects where required.
  • Oversee and manage projects to ensure development and commercial risks are understood and mitigation plans are developed to reduce risk, including participation in the negotiation of upstream and downstream contracts and risk registers.
  • Oversight and development of project execution plans including, work breakdown structure (WBS), timelines, costs, risk assessments communication of project financials and progress reports in a consistent manner across the assigned projects.
  • Provide leadership in developing sound relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage, track and report on the progress of assigned projects through to financial close and the execution of contracts with clients.
  • Management of contracts and contractors, associated with projects
  • Development of required inputs for management papers, Board papers and commercial negotiations as required – this includes regular liaison with internal stakeholders and service providers in legal, finance, engineering, commercial, planning, and environmental specialists.

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and directly manage strategic network augmentation projects.
  • Oversee project development, mitigate risks, and negotiate contracts to reduce potential issues.
  • Develop and oversee project execution plans, including work breakdown structure, timelines, and costs.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track and report project progress from initiation to contract execution.
  • Manage contracts and associated contractors.
  • Provide inputs for management and board papers, engaging with relevant stakeholders.
