Play an essential role in managing high voltage switchgear and instrument transformers, ensuring their performance and reliability. We are seeking a Senior Primary Engineer (Switchgear) who will provide specialised expertise to our Asset Management team.

Joining AusNet as a Senior Primary Engineer will involve you being at the forefront of innovation in the energy sector. Your expertise will drive strategic initiatives and contribute to the sustainable future of our energy infrastructure

 

 

With a 3/2 hybrid split (3 days in the office, 2 days WFH), this role is based in Freshwater Place and is part of the Asset Management Team.

For candidates interested in moving for this role from states outside of Victoria in Australia, we would be delighted to offer relocation assistance for this role.

 

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Provide technical expertise in managing high voltage switchgear and instrument transformers
  • Develop and implement asset management strategies and equipment standards
  • Initiate and manage projects, including concept development and business case preparation
  • Support regulatory submission replacement plans and annual operational work plans
  • Assess and review the condition and performance of high voltage equipment
  • Investigate and analyse equipment failures, drafting comprehensive reports
  • Approve and review technical documentation and participate in audits
  • Support emergency response events and ensure compliance with safety standards

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Considerable engineering or asset management experience required, preferably in a similar role
  • Strong commitment to safety outcomes and best practices in engineering projects
  • Degree in Engineering with a solid technical background in related fields
  • In-depth knowledge of high voltage assets and switchgear technologies
  • Analytical skills for leveraging data-driven insights to optimise asset performance
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to lead and coordinate thorough investigations of failure and incident cases
