Description:

We bring the energy!

Through purpose and people - not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.

We all want a future of energy we can be proud of. With us you can.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Health and Safety Manager, leading client-side Health and Safety oversight of AGJV as WRL’s EPC delivery partner, verifying that its systems, people and field practices support safe and compliant design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. Provide practical, independent advice to the Head of Delivery and support appropriate controls and evidenced resolution of Health and Safety issues. Provide Health and Safety leadership and assurance for AusNet-led activities and directly engaged contractors through to handover.

What you’ll help deliver

  • Leading a risk-based Health and Safety assurance program, primarily focused on AGJV and its subcontractors, with proportionate coverage of AusNet-led works.
  • Leading, managing and mentoring the Health and Safety team, setting clear priorities, supporting wellbeing and developing capability through regular coaching, feedback and practical learning.
  • Planning, conducting and reporting contractor Health and Safety audits and field inspections; review JV audit coverage and verify critical controls and safe work method statements in practice.
  • Monitor applicable legislative, contractual and AusNet requirements; maintain traceable evidence and coordinate regulatory responses with accountable functions.
  • Assure incident classification, notification, evidence preservation and investigation; review significant and high-potential events and participate in or lead investigations where appropriate.
  • Influence and assure JV safety leadership, culture and improvement programs aligned with AusNet expectations and changing project risks; promote worker consultation, HSR engagement, open reporting and learning from work.
  • Assure emergency and rescue readiness and physical and psychological health controls for high-risk and remote work, including fatigue, travel, occupational exposures, accommodation and access to support for people working away from home.
  • Oversee Health and Safety interface arrangements with Powercor, other utilities and third-party delivery organisations, coordinating shared risks, work boundaries and responsibilities with accountable project and asset-owner functions.
  • Coordinate with Field Operations & Security on security incidents affecting safe delivery, including notification, response, worker welfare and learning; consider landholder and community safety in access and work planning with Land, Planning & Engagement.

You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Health and Safety, engineering, construction management or a related discipline.
  • Incident investigation / causation qualification. Lead Auditor qualification desirable
  • Senior Health and Safety leadership on complex, multi-contractor infrastructure projects, preferably transmission, utilities or linear infrastructure.
  • Strong client-side or EPC/D&C contractor-assurance experience, including subcontractor oversight and critical-control verification.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Health and Safety audits and significant incident investigations, including causal analysis and corrective-action verification.
  • Experience in Safety in Design, construction readiness, electrical/operational interfaces, commissioning and emergency preparedness.
  • Ability to engage senior contractor leaders and translate contractual requirements into practical assurance and independent, commercially aware advice.
  • Transmission experience and work around Live lines desirable
