As part of the shift to renewable generation and storage across our electricity distribution network, we have an opportunity for a Senior Generator Connections Engineer to take the driver’s seat and undertake comprehensive and detailed analysis of generation connections to the AusNet’s 22kV and 66kV distribution network.

 

Passionate about creating solutions, you will negotiate generator performance standards, as well as undertake, and interpret the computer-based network simulations required by connections under Chapter 5 and 5A of the National Electricity Rules. You enjoy a customer-centric role and pride yourself on clearly articulating technical requirements with a focus on compliance and timelines reflecting the NER.

 

With a Hybrid split (Southbank/WFH), this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Network Connections team within our Network Strategy & Planning department and we are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements with you!

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Undertake comprehensive and detailed analysis in SINCAL, PSCAD, PSSE and Power Factory
  • Ensure compliance with Chapter 5 and 5A of the National Electricity Rules
  • Interpret, prepare, provide solutions, and negotiate Generator Performance Standards and undertake generator commissioning activities for connections >1.5MW
  • Maintain effective relationship with customers and key stakeholders, including regulators and industry bodies
  • Investigate, prepare reports, and influence network security, capacity, reliability, and power quality
  • Support development of strategies (technical, process, network security, capacity) which would accelerate growth of the distribution network

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • SME across the Electricity Supply industry in end-to-end generator connections initiatives
  • Well versed in nuances across 22kV and 66kV environments
  • Proficiency in SINCAL, PSCAD, PSSE and Power Factory based simulation and interpretation
  • GPS negotiation and generator commissioning activities
  • Detail knowledge and experience of Chapter 5 and 5A of the National Electricity Rules
  • A dynamic approach to engaging with diverse stakeholders
  • A progressive mindset, and customer service centric approach
  • Registered as Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia
