As a Senior Transmission Lines Engineer, you'll provide specialist expertise across the development and delivery of major transmission line projects, with a focus on overhead lines, towers and associated infrastructure. Working closely with project teams, consultants and delivery partners, you'll help develop safe, practical and cost-effective engineering solutions that support the successful delivery of critical network projects across Victoria.

 

What you’ll be doing in this role:

 

  • Deliver expert engineering and technical support into Customer and Company initiated projects across AusNet’s Transmission network, applying technical knowledge across brownfield and greenfield initiatives to drive efficient design and construction outcomes
  • Apply technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projects
  • Develop scopes and specifications for design and construction. Review and assess brownfield and greenfield lines and towers designs, providing technical input into staging, constructability, operability, maintainability and safety in design covering: Lines design with PLS-CADD, Structure design and modelling using PLS-POLE and TOWER and Foundation design
  • Drive design excellence through active involvement in detailed design reviews, supporting Requests for Information, tender processes, quality monitoring, and decision-making in partnership with internal specialists and external design providers.
  • Promote innovation and cost-effectiveness by identifying opportunities for value engineering and non-standard solutions, supporting constructability, operability, maintainability, and safety in design.
  • Lead continuous improvement by developing and refining standards, specifications, and engineering practices, including process innovations and adaptation to digital advancements supporting the energy transition.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring collaboration, compliance, and alignment with service levels, customer satisfaction, and company policies.
  • Mentor and support peers, contributing technical leadership and knowledge sharing to less experienced engineers while serving as a Subject Matter Expert in project engineering.
  • Champion a safety-first, change-driven culture by advocating for WHS, cybersecurity, legislative compliance, and feedback-informed improvements aligned with AusNet’s values and health and safety targets.

 

You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:

 

  • Detailed technical knowledge and extensive experience working in electricity networks engineering and transmission lines in project delivery and/or design roles
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environment that AusNet operates within
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex engineering analysis for non-engineers (eg summarising key decision-making during delivery of detailed design)
  • Detailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principals with extensive design and construction knowledge covering performance, functionality, operation, maintenance and risks
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support colleagues and team members to achieve common goals
  • Proven project team skills
  • Proven capability in development of concepts and/or delivery of designs
  • Proven ability to build and grow relationships and partnerships across divisions within Ausnet as well as with external suppliers, customers and regulatory bodies
