About the role
As a Senior Corporate Accountant, you’ll play a key role in AusNet’s Group Finance function, sharing accountability for the preparation of financial information for Group Reporting. You’ll also take ownership of specialist responsibilities, including finance systems maintenance, automation, and process improvement.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys solving problems, and is passionate about driving efficiency and innovation in finance operations.
Key Responsibilities

Lead general ledger month-end close, consolidation, and reporting

Review and approve journal entries across the finance team

Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and assist with financial statements

Maintain and improve automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Power Query, macros)

Support auditors with queries and documentation

Collaborate on process improvement initiatives (ESOA: Eliminate, Standardise, Optimise, Automate)

Train and coach finance team members on automation tools

Maintain finance systems and documentation
What You’ll Bring

CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification (or credible path to qualification)

Strong experience with finance systems (SAP ECC or S/4 HANA highly desirable)

Proficiency in automation tools (Power BI, Power Query, Excel models)

Analytical mindset with a passion for process improvement

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Ability to work productively in complex, multi-disciplinary environments

A self-starter attitude and a collaborative spirit
