About the Role

The Senior Business Analyst role is responsible for providing in-depth data analysis, database management, solution design and problem solving to identify revenue and cost drivers of the business. This role also supports the team’s revenue and energy reporting and forecasting responsibilities, along with revenue and energy modelling and reporting to the Australian Energy Regulator.

 

You will be expected to maintain strong relationships across the business to identify areas where the Group Finance & Data Analytics team can assist other teams to achieve their goals in the most efficient manner possible.  You will be required to work independently to respond to data-related business needs and possess the specialist knowledge of database and query design in order to provide technical leadership on projects, including designing solutions in response to questions raised by the business.

 

This role will report to the Group Finance & Data Analytics Manager and is located at Southbank, Victoria.

What you will deliver

  • You will develop a deep understanding of the data within AusNet’s various systems/databases and use this knowledge to create efficient and reusable SQL code to extract and analyse information
  • Work with complex datasets, lead data gathering and validation, requirement analysis, process mapping and improvement, and designing solutions to meet business objectives
  • You will manage the Group Finance & Data Analytics team's SQL database
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders from across the business, providing insights and advice and identifying areas where the Group Finance & Data Analytics team can assist other teams in the achievement of their goals
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the monthly revenue and energy reporting and forecasting process, in order to provide support to this function when needed and to suggest and implement improvements to processes

 

 What we like about you                                                                                                                                              

  • Strong understanding of SQL programming language
  • Advanced Excel and VBA skills
  • Experience with data analytics software, such as Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau
  • Database management experience preferred (e.g. managing space, memory, etc.)
  • Ability to report and present data that is clear, concise, and easily understood at all levels in the organisation
  • Ability to identify root cause of problems (e.g. data discrepancies, process inefficiencies) and implement changes to resolve
  • Ability to engage with key business stakeholders in order to achieve desired outcomes
  • Strong business acumen and financial literate
  • Utilities industry experience highly regarded
