Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That’s refreshing.
We have an opportunity for a Security Advisor to play a key role in safeguarding AusNet’s critical infrastructure while driving compliance and strengthening our security posture. In this role, you’ll work closely with project managers, participating in design meetings to ensure security-by-design principles are integrated across projects. You’ll collaborate with contractors to review and explore new technologies, define security scopes for projects, and actively contribute to the development of security solutions. Conducting site visits to assess and ensure compliance will be an integral part of the role, as you help shape the future of AusNet’s physical security environment while supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure for Victoria’s energy network.
This role offers flexible hybrid working, based in Flinders Street, Melbourne, as part of the Protective Security Team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
• Providing risk-based security advice to mitigate emerging threats to AusNet’s critical assets.
• Developing and maintaining security policies, standards, and compliance processes.
• Leading projects incorporating security-by-design principles (CPTED) across new and existing infrastructure.
• Managing security contractors to ensure cost-effectiveness and performance.
• Monitoring regulatory compliance and supporting audits to ensure adherence to legislation.
• Supporting security incident investigations and driving continuous improvements.
• Promoting security awareness and fostering a proactive security culture across AusNet.
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
• Relevant university degree and/ or 3+ years’ experience in corporate security, ideally within critical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of risk management approaches to security (HB167:2006) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
• Experience developing and implementing security plans, policies, and conducting risk assessments.
• Proven ability to manage contractors, advocate for security measures, and deliver projects.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and time management skills.
• A valid Victorian driver’s licence and ability to travel within Victoria as required.
