We are looking for an experienced Quality Manager to manage Quality Management System certification and assessment and oversee the review and evaluation of project quality and execution plans. Your role will positively influence the quality culture and performance of the project and support AusNet in driving quality standards and processes across the organisation.
The Western Renewables Link (WRL) project is the largest transmission build of its kind in more than four decades. WRL is a critical piece of transmission infrastructure required to deliver energy from wind and solar farms in western Victoria to homes across the state and the National Electricity Market.
Reporting into the Director, Technical Engineering your focus will be on delivery of high-quality assets for AusNet’s contestable asset base whilst ensuring that AusNet remains a trusted delivery partner.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Lead project quality planning and process control on the project.
- Contribute to continuous improvement to improve project execution efficiency and performance.
- Communicate and apply the Quality Management Sub-Plan and ensure all requirements within the plan are established, implemented, maintained, communicated and that responsibilities for implementing the plan are understood by the broad project team including contractors.
- Review all client quality specifications to ensure all QA/QC project deliverables required under the contract are being captured and processes are actively in place and being adhered to.
- Develop and revise project-specific quality procedures and forms, as required in the project specifications
- Implement and maintain project reporting against Quality objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the project.
- Provide input into the project risk reviews to ensure all quality risks are identified, analysed and mitigated and relevant activities (e.g. Inspections) are transferred into the P6 schedule
- Collaborate and participate with the audit team in line with the Project Audit Schedule and maintain current reporting against its completion
- Manage the Corrective Action and Non-Conformance records and ensure action owners are aware of their actions and ensure actions are implemented and effective.
- Ensure that non-conformances are promptly documented, analysed, closed-out and reported to senior management in line with client reporting requirements.
- Ensure that quality files and records are kept up to date.
- Assist with preparing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection and Test Records (ITRs) to ensure all inspection and testing requirements have been identified.
- Provide prompt review for developed ITPs and provide advice on the structure of ITRs developed in support of the ITP.
- Ensure all inspections and tests records are accurate and complete and ensure the MDR requirements to assist completions are made known to the subcontractor/supplier and are included in the relevant ITPs and ITRs.
- Conduct final review of subcontractor and supplier documentation prior to submission to the Client for final approval.
- Collaborate with and assist where required in the conduct of audits on suppliers and subcontractors to verify compliance with the contract requirements, specifications, codes and standards.
- Identify, register and obtain calibration certificates for project monitoring and measuring devices.
- Ensure all quality processes undertaken on the project are in accordance with the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 9001, as a minimum.
- Liaise with clients to ensure quality issues are always swiftly resolved and positively represent the project activities to the client
- Train project personnel in quality and quality systems training packages.
You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:
- At least 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial QA/QC role.
- Quality Management experience preferably on large renewable or infrastructure project.
- Experience managing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), non-conformance reports (NCRs), and handover documentation
- Strong organisational, collaboration and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with quality management systems standards, in particular ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, with formal training and experience conducting audits of QMS systems. Lead ISO 9001 Auditor Certification is desired.
- Must have the flexibility to travel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge of industry-specific quality programs and performance standards.
- Practical work experience in fields of engineering, environmental science, procurement, construction, testing, operations, decommissioning or business administration.
