About the Role – Project Manager
As a Project Manager within the Project & Portfolio Excellence team, you will play a key role in driving enterprise performance by supporting the delivery of critical business initiatives across AusNet. This role contributes to strengthening project and portfolio management capability by embedding best-practice methodologies, governance, and standards across the full project lifecycle—from planning and design through to execution, deployment, and optimisation.
Working closely with the Senior Project Manager, you will plan and deliver business projects end-to-end, ensuring outcomes meet agreed business needs and deliver enterprise value. You will collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to identify and mobilise the right resources and capabilities, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, cost, timelines, and quality delivery.
As part of Group Operations, you will contribute to enhancing enterprise-wide performance by supporting capital investment governance, portfolio prioritisation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Lines of Business, including Digital & Technology.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Plans and manages the delivery of projects for Group Operations under the guidance and direction of the Senior Project Manager
- Delivers in accordance with the AusNet Project Management Framework, Tools, Processes
- Ensures Project Management Plan including the Project Schedule with deliverables, milestones and dates is agreed, signed off and actively tracked to ensure delivery
- Maintains awareness of current business standards and processes and ensures all project activities comply with the standards
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Ensures project risks are identified, managed and mitigated in line with risk framework.
- Demonstrated ability to create, build and grow stakeholder/vendor relationships
- Safe delivery of assigned projects through a safety first and zero harm approach.
- Actively collaborates to share insights, lessons learned (including upsides) widely with others
- Well-developed report writing and presentation skills
- Effective interpersonal, negotiating and facilitation skills
You don’t need to check every box; however, we’re looking for a good combination of:
- 5 – 10 years of experience in end-to-end project management
- PMI, APM or AXELOS Program and Project Management Qualification or Certification
- Demonstrated Project Manager experience through successful delivery
- Proven experience delivering business projects e.g. business operations, operational excellence, workplace/property, compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to apply established project management frameworks, manage complexity, and actively coach and support junior project members
- Commercial acumen including business case development, socialisation and approval.
- Proven experience with implementing organisational change (people, process and technology)
- Significant stakeholder management
- Well-developed report writing and presentation skills
- Effective interpersonal, negotiating and facilitating skills
