We are looking for an experienced Project Manager for planning and managing the construction delivery of infrastructure projects or defined project workstreams across the full project lifecycle (design, procure, construct, commission, and handover), operating within established governance frameworks to meet agreed business objectives.
The role operates under the guidance of a Project Director for complex, high‑risk or high‑value matters and contributes to the safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of AusNet’s infrastructure program.

What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Plan and manage delivery of infrastructure projects/workstreams within the Development & Future Networks portfolio in line with AusNet’s Project Management Framework, governance and reporting requirements.
- Develop, maintain and control Project Management Plans, schedules, milestones and deliverables, ensuring appropriate approvals and effective handover to business-as-usual.
- Coordinate internal teams, delivery partners and suppliers to achieve agreed project outcomes, providing day-to-day leadership, communication and issue resolution.
- Ensure safe project delivery in accordance with AusNet safety systems, standards, community obligations and Information/Cyber Security requirements.
- Apply robust governance, risk and issue management, including escalation of material risks, participation in health checks and assurance activities, and contribution to lessons learned.
- Support commercial and financial management, including business cases, forecasting, cost control, SPI/CPI monitoring, and contractor performance within delegated authority.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and demonstrate consideration of customer needs and experience throughout project delivery.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement through collaboration, accountability, innovation and better ways of working
You don’t need to check every box; however, we’re looking for a good combination of:
- Project delivery experience: 4+ years’ experience in project management, coordination or infrastructure delivery roles within energy, utilities, infrastructure or construction environments.
- Qualifications & sector exposure: Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Civil or similar engineering discipline (preferred) or equivalent hands-on infrastructure delivery experience in regulated sectors.
- Project management capability: Practical application of project management methodologies and controls across the full lifecycle, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, change and reporting.
- Planning, scheduling & reporting: Proven experience planning and coordinating delivery using tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6, supported by accurate tracking and timely project reporting.
- Commercial, contractor & cost management: Exposure to contractor and supplier management, cost forecasting, expenditure tracking, contingency management, variations and approvals within delegated authority.
- Safety, systems & documentation: Strong understanding of construction and operational safety obligations, with experience in safety reviews and risk activities; capable in maintaining project documentation and familiar with enterprise systems such as SAP.
- Commercial & delivery judgement: Demonstrates strong commercial awareness, balancing cost, schedule, quality and risk; supports business case development, estimates and delivery strategies within regulated governance and approval frameworks.
- Risk-aware decision making: Proactively identifies delivery risks, applies sound judgement, escalates appropriately and proposes practical mitigation options to support successful outcomes.
- Stakeholder leadership & communication: Builds productive relationships across internal teams, delivery partners and suppliers; communicates clearly and confidently, aligning multidisciplinary perspectives and managing expectations through negotiation and issue resolution.
- Resilient, accountable collaborator: Highly organised and adaptable, manages multiple priorities with accountability and follow-through; brings a learning mindset, sound decision making and a collaborative style that strengthens team culture and delivery outcomes.
