Help us lead the way, while enriching your career with real people who encourage you to bring your best and make real impact – for your career, our communities, and Australia’s cleaner energy future.

Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That’s refreshing.

Become part of a critical team that will guide Ausnet to rapidly mature and provide outstanding strategic level technical and operational capabilities, whilst ensuring cross-business coordination and collaboration.

Identify, lead and embed enterprise-wide process improvements as the Process Improvement Lead across Ausnet’s operational and enabling functions. Identify and resolve process bottlenecks by re-engineering workflows, automating tasks, and addressing inefficiencies to improve performance and delivery.

You will play a critical role in driving measurable improvements in operational efficiency, compliance, safety and customer outcomes. It applies structured improvement methodologies, facilitates cross-functional collaboration and builds continuous improvement capability across all levels.

This role is based in Southbank and is part of the Operations and Emergency Management team.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Lead enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives targeting improvements in safety, efficiency, reliability, compliance, operations and customer service.
  • Conduct end-to-end diagnostics of operational and support processes to identify systemic inefficiencies, waste, duplication, and bottlenecks using structured methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and value stream mapping.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops with frontline staff, subject matter experts, and leadership to map current state processes, co-design future state improvements, and build process ownership across functions.
  • Standardise and document critical business processes, procedures, and controls in alignment with AusNet’s Integrated Management System (IMS), regulatory requirements, and operational risk frameworks.
  • Work closely with Data & Analytics and Digital teams to develop process performance dashboards, operational KPIs, and real-time data visualisation tools that support decision-making and process monitoring.
  • Assist strategic transformation and change programs, including process re-engineering for new systems, organisational changes, and large-scale capital project delivery.
  • Ensure operational processes meet internal and external compliance obligations, including those related to safety, environmental performance, regulator reporting (e.g. AER, ESV), and critical infrastructure risk management.
  • Capture lessons from incidents, audits, and exercises, particularly within Emergency Management and Safety, and integrate them into sustainable process improvements and training materials.
  • Lead the development of process maturity assessments across business units and contribute to the enterprise Operational Excellence maturity roadmap and reporting cadence.
  • Support cross-business harmonisation of processes, identifying and resolving variation that hinders performance, regulatory alignment, or scalability (particularly between regulated networks and Future Networks developments).

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Certified in Lean Six Sigma (minimum Green Belt required; Black Belt desirable).
  • Formal training in continuous improvement, change management, or operational excellence methodologies (e.g. Kaizen, A3 thinking, root cause analysis).
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and integrated management systems (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 55001) is advantageous.
  • Significant proven experience in process improvement, operational excellence, or transformation roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end improvement projects with measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams in asset-intensive, regulated, or field-based organisations.
  • Proven track record in regulatory audits, safety investigations, or emergency response improvement programs is highly desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and value stream mapping.
  • Exposure to operational processes within asset-intensive, safety-critical, or regulated environments (e.g. energy, utilities, infrastructure).
