The Opportunity

 

We’re seeking an experienced Payroll Lead to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll lead a small team while actively managing payroll operations and compliance across multiple states.

You’ll oversee fortnightly pay cycles, ensure compliance with legislation, and play a key role in implementing PayDay Super – aligning superannuation payments with pay day. This role also involves driving process improvements and embedding the AusNet way of working

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Deliver hands on end-to-end payroll processing for a complex environment, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timeliness.
  • Lead and mentor the payroll team, uplifting capability and embedding compliance.
  • Be on the tools in all aspects of payroll processing being fully engaged in planning, coordinating, hands on processing, monitoring, reviewing, reconciling and rectification work. 
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, STP2 reporting, superannuation legislation, LSL and payroll tax.
  • Partner with People and Finance teams to resolve issues and streamline processes.
  • Support audits, reporting, and maintain accurate payroll documentation.
  • Drive successful implementation of payroll-related projects and system changes

 

About You

 

  • Must have minimum 6 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll leadership role (non-standalone roles) with a hands-on approach.
  • Exceptional knowledge and proven adherence of all payroll state and national legislation across Australia.
  • Must have SAP S4/Hana payroll processing, SuccessFactors and Spinifex systems experience (mandatory).  PayTools is a bonus.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of industrial employment instruments/tools
  • Strong analytical, mathematical skills and Excel proficiency.
  • Highly flexible and resilient – able to manage high-pressure pay run weeks.
  • Strong coordination skills of team BAU activities and various adhoc requests from employee and business stakeholder and ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication
