In this role as an Operational Excellence Manager, you will combine operational excellence methodologies with operations management best practices to ensure continuous improvement in day-to-day operations, while also aligning operational strategies with long-term business goals.
You will be responsible for the execution of initiatives aimed at process optimization, efficiency, and driving sustainable growth. Additionally, this role ensures the standardisation of best practices, the application of continuous improvement methodologies, and compliance with organisational and regulatory standards.

This role can be based in Southbank and is part of the Operations and Emergency Management team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Conduct thorough assessments of business processes, operational workflows, and performance metrics to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Determine measurement methodologies and parameters to provide metrics on performance and key areas of focus.
- Evaluate operational maturity levels across departments and identify opportunities for standardization, process effectiveness, and technology/innovation possibilities.
- Develop a comprehensive operational excellence framework incorporating Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies tailored to the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Create structured problem-solving approaches, best practice playbooks, and operational standards to drive efficiency and consistency.
- Design performance measurement systems, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to track improvements and sustain operational excellence initiatives.
- Establish a governance structure to ensure operational excellence principles are embedded in decision-making processes across business units.
- Progress and/or source best-in-class tools, training programs, and methodologies to support operations teams in achieving process efficiency and optimization.
- Implement structured change management strategies to facilitate the adoption of new processes, technologies, and performance standards.
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional improvement projects focused on performance improvement, quality enhancement, and process efficiency.
- Optimize resource allocation, workforce planning, and technology utilization to enhance overall operational effectiveness.
- Align operational excellence initiatives with broader corporate strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability and business impact.
- Regularly review key operational metrics, analyse trends, and identify further opportunities for refinement and optimization.
- Solicit feedback from stakeholders and frontline employees to continuously refine operational strategies and initiatives.
- Partner with business unit leaders, frontline teams, and senior management to drive alignment between operations strategy and business goals.
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Operations Management, or Process Improvement.
- Additional Certifications are highly beneficial to this role (e.g.: Lean Six Sigma Certification / Project Management Certification/ master’s degree / Change Management Certification / Reliability Centered Maintenance / Asset Management Certification)
- Demonstrated industry experience in operational excellence, continuous improvement, or operations management within a complex business environment.
- Familiar with Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies, including leading process improvement initiatives.
- Program Coordination and Process Improvement Planning, including the development of operational efficiency roadmaps and transformation programs.
- Skilled in driving operational excellence in a regulated industry, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and frameworks.
- Technical knowledge or understanding of process optimization tools, automation technologies, and data-driven decision-making methodologies will be beneficial.
- Experience in coordinating and leading cross-functional improvement projects, engaging teams in problem-solving, and delivering measurable business impact.
- Proven track record in implementing operational strategies and performance enhancement initiatives across multiple business units.
- Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, frontline employees, and technical experts, to drive operational improvements.
- Large Team Management or working across multiple departments to align process improvement efforts with business goals.
- Proficient in data analysis, performance metrics, and business intelligence tools to track and report operational performance.
