Join AusNet’s Major Projects team and lead the operational readiness and asset handover of one of the state’s most significant infrastructure projects, the Western Renewables Link (WRL).

 

About the Role

 

As the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring AusNet’s long-term operational success of the WRL project. You’ll manage the completions and handover of EPC contractor packages, ensuring assets are delivered to specification, ready for operation, and aligned with AusNet’s asset management and regulatory frameworks and coordinate to ensure that the AusNet led works are delivered to expectations.

This is a high-impact role that bridges engineering, project delivery, and asset management. You’ll collaborate across internal teams and external partners to embed operational excellence from design through to commissioning.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and coordinate the handover of built assets from the WRL Project to AusNet.
  • Identify and manage risks related to new technologies, equipment, and maintenance requirements.
  • Facilitate coordination workshops and readiness reviews with stakeholders.
  • Evaluate contractor designs and methodologies for safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure asset data, documentation, and systems meet AusNet’s standards and ISO55001 requirements.
  • Develop and implement operational readiness plans for safe and compliant asset transition.
  • Provide technical leadership and governance oversight throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

 

  • Desirable bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Business or equivalent.
  • Desirable: Diploma or Master of Project Management, Certificate IV in Safety.

 

Experience

 

  • 7+ years in Asset Management, ideally within energy, utilities, or major infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of electricity assets and field operations.
  • Proven ability to manage complex handover processes and operational readiness planning.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, risk management, and project governance.
  • Excellent communications skills, a personable approach, and the ability to build strong, lasting relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
