As Operational & Access Planning Engineer, this role will see you delivering safe and secure access to the AusNet Transmission network, preparing for and responding to power system security risks and ensuring the ongoing operability and maintenance of the Transmission network.

 

The Operational & Access Planning Engineer (T) is technically sound using knowledge to maximise safety, reliability and incentive scheme outcomes while ensuring excellent customer outcomes.

 

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Be proactive in supporting Transmission Control & Operations activities, process planned work, refresh knowledge, plan for contingencies, and share knowledge
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures and maintaining data in technology systems including both operational and information technology
  • Support Transmission Control & Operations and Emergency Management team in the real-time environment responding to or preparing for incidents.
  • Provide support to AEMO and real time operation and control in preparation and response to power system security threats and market events for managing risk across operations, improved customer outcomes, and improved performance against incentive schemes
  • Fulfil the role of technical support in transmission operations and provide advice within their area of specialism to stakeholders, projects, process improvement and business initiatives
  • Coordinates the transmission access plan through stakeholder engagement with customers, delivery partners, NSPs, and AEMO
  • Review access applications and assess, write, review planned switching operations to ensure positive outcomes in terms of network safety and security

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Relevant tertiary education in Engineering (e.g. Electrical Engineering degree) 
  • Detailed knowledge of the Code of Practice on Electrical Safety in the VESI (Blue Book)
  • Deep level of knowledge and understanding of electricity Transmission network operational policies and procedures
  • Strategic level of knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, laws, regulations, instruments, standards, codes applicable to Transmission operations
  • Advanced knowledge of AC circuit theory as applied to power systems and network limitations
  • Detailed level of knowledge of Australian National Electricity Market (NEM), and general knowledge of the Victorian electricity distribution networks.
  • Applied experience with Energy Management Systems, SCADA, and other operational technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of incentive scheme metrics and control room drivers
