About the Role

Due to growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Metering Projects Engineer.  This role will see you manage the NEM metering systems BAU tasks and relevant metering projects within the Transmission networks, Sub-Transmission networks, HV Customer Installation, Wind farm and Solar farm. You will contribute your expertise on issues relating to revenue HV metering and other metering services conducted as the Metering Provider.

 

This role is based in Yarraville, Victoria and is part of the Transmission line of business.

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Preparing build of material, quotations and manage metering projects to time and budget
  • Ensure project delivery timelines are reported on a scheduled basis to stakeholders, ensuring all metering projects are delivered on time and with quality
  • Design and produce technical drawings of metering panels, champion software updates and initiate innovation programs
  • Engage in engineering calculations of metering circuits and development of algorithms
  • Ensure Dashboard reporting (Power Bi) system is up to date and available for stakeholders to access/view
  • Assist in managing long and short-term maintenance testing programs for all wholesale/bulk energy metering systems
  • Develop, maintain and improve metering systems and the testing processes and ensure they meet the requirements of the various codes and accreditations & compliances
  • Testing and commissioning metering installations for both lab and in the field
  • Support the field test teams in terms of hardware, software and firmware setup and update/upgrade
  • Analyse meter data and advise market participants of any anomalies
  • Development of CAD drawings, technical documentation, and process flow charts

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Power Engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of energy metering systems/installations within Electrical Transmission & Distribution networks
  • Knowledge of the NEM, Chapter 7 of NER
  • Experience in the management of routine testing/maintenance scheduling and adhering to regulatory compliance of assets
  • Ability to produce technical drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD/TurboCad)
  • Experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting serial and ethernet communication devices (4G and PSTN csd and IP type modems, WAN, IoT, Wi-Fi etc)
  • Software programming skills (C, C++, Python, Visual Basics)
  • Knowledge of testing LV and EHV metering equipment (including CTs and VTs)
  • Ability to analyse & troubleshoot energy metering data and advise substitutions to meter data provider for market settlement
