A great opportunity has become available for a Manager, Sub Transmission Network Planning to join us and lead our sub-transmission network planning team as we go through this exciting growth phase!

About the role

This role will see you providing leadership, guidance, technical expertise and strategic direction to strengthen our regulated electricity sub-transmission network (66kV network).

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining network planning capabilities for improving sub-transmission network performance and supporting growth in new connections (both load & generation)
  • Producing network investment plans and proposals for the regulated sub-transmission networks, including developing optimised and prioritised network augmentation programs that support regulatory submissions and program delivery
  • Planning for a new energy future taking into account macro trends in the energy sector and the impacts of climate change
  • Developing sub-transmission network resilience plans, including summer and winter preparedness plans
  • Developing connection asset (eg: 220kV/66kV power transformers at terminal stations) augmentation plans to support load and generator growth in sub-transmission network
  • Developing strategies and identify opportunities that maximise the utilisation of our sub-transmission network (e.g. increasing load and generation connections)
  • Maintaining effective relationships with customers and key stakeholders, including AEMO, DEECA, VicGrid and other TNSPs & DNSPs
  • Managing, coaching and leading the team of approximately 8-10 sub-transmission planning engineers including providing technical leadership to them  

 

 About you

You don’t need to tick every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • An Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • A proven track record in engineering roles within Electricity Networks and/or energy industry including leading teams
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands on experience in various engineering activities associated with the network planning process with at least some experience in sub-transmission network planning
  • Exposure and understanding of the regulatory frameworks
  • Strong business and commercial acumen
  • High level of consulting, influencing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor and support team to achieve targets
  • Ability to connect with organisational strategy and identify what is required at a tactical level to achieve it
  • Adaptable and flexible to changes in priorities and demands
  • Expert at critical thinking and the ability to problem solve and find new and unique solutions
