Title: Manager, Strategic Insights & Engagement
Victoria, Australia

12 month Fixed Term contract
We bring the energy!
Through purpose and people - not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.
At AusNet, what we do matters — and so does how we listen. As we continue Australia’s energy transition, we’re looking for a Manager, Strategic Engagement & Insights to lead how we connect with customers, communities and stakeholders, and translate those insights into better decisions and outcomes.
This is a highly visible leadership role with real influence across the organisation, supporting major regulatory programs and long‑term network planning across electricity transmission, electricity distribution and gas.
About the role
Reporting to the General Manager, Public Affairs, you’ll lead a small, high‑performing team responsible for stakeholder engagement, customer research and insight generation across AusNet.
You’ll work across the business to ensure customer and stakeholder perspectives are embedded into strategy, planning and proposals – playing a key role in shaping AusNet’s reputation, regulatory outcomes and transition to net zero.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading and developing a team of engagement and research specialists.
- Designing and overseeing high‑quality engagement processes linked to major business planning initiatives (including price reviews).
- Overseeing AusNet’s customer research program, including customer satisfaction and energy sentiment tracking.
- Managing key customer and stakeholder forums and advisory groups.
- Acting as a trusted adviser to leaders across the business on engagement strategy and customer insights.
- Translating engagement and research outcomes into clear, actionable business impact.
- Strengthening AusNet’s customer‑centric approach to planning, decision‑making and delivery.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, advocates, industry, regulators and government.
- Promoting AusNet’s work externally, including through the annual Energy Charter Disclosure reporting and stakeholder newsletter.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience leading stakeholder engagement and/or customer insight functions in complex environments.
- Confidence and experience engaging effectively with senior leaders, external stakeholders and diverse audiences.
- Excellent judgement, communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical or regulatory concepts into clear, accessible engagement materials.
- Experience leading people and managing competing priorities.
- Exposure to the energy sector, regulation or price reviews is highly regarded, but not essential.
The AusNet experience is all about…
- Solving some of the most complex energy challenges of our time: We love unpacking complex challenges in clever ways and looking at things differently.
- When life happens, knowing we’ve got your back: Whether it's life's big moments or the unexpected little ones, we get it – sometimes you just need to be there.
- Being part of a team that cares deeply about each other: We share in the good times. We support in the tough times. And we’re humble through and through.
We’re committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce. We believe different perspectives are essential to our success, and we encourage all applicants to apply. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, we're happy to discuss how we can support you.
