Play a key leadership role as a Manager, Portfolio Performance and Reporting where you will design and implement frameworks, tools and methodologies to measure, analyse and improve the performance across all Ausnet Capital portfolios, which will largely be infrastructure and digital projects in the energy sector.

 

You will ensure that investment decisions are data driven, portfolio risks are managed, and performance insights lead to continuous improvement in capital efficiency, strategic alignment and delivery excellence. This role sits within our Group Operations team that is currently guiding Ausnet to rapidly mature and provide outstanding strategic level technical and operational capabilities, whilst ensuring cross business coordination and collaboration.

 

With a hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank, Melbourne and is part of the Group Portfolio Management Office team.

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

·         Design and implement a Portfolio Performance Management Framework, defining KPIs, benchmarks, and measurement methodologies across projects, programs and Business unit portfolios.

·         Establish performance thresholds and early warning indicators for cost, schedule, benefits realization, and risk.

·         Lead the development of real-time portfolio dashboards, integrating data across SAP, PMO tools, and other relevant data sources

·         Perform trend analysis, predictive modelling, and scenario planning to provide actionable insights to executive leadership.

·         Deliver monthly and quarterly portfolio performance reports, highlighting systemic risks and opportunities for optimization.

·         Collaborate with Business Units, Finance, Risk, and Strategy teams to quantify the financial impact of portfolio performance trends.

·         Provide analytical support for the Investment Release Forum, ensuring decision-making is evidence-based.

·         Strengthen data-driven governance mechanisms, integrating insights into existing approval processes.

·         Lead the design and rollout of new performance tracking tools that integrate with existing project management systems.

·         Define and implement a benefits tracking methodology, ensuring projects deliver tangible value.

·         Develop a structured approach to post-implementation reviews, ensuring lessons learned are institutionalize

·         Reports on group portfolio performance outcomes, deviations, risks & opportunities.

 

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

·         Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or another related field

·         Minimum of 10 years of experience in portfolio investment, performance management and enterprise-wide portfolio management, preferably in regulated industries (e.g., energy, utilities, infrastructure).

·         Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing portfolio performance measurement frameworks.

·         Strong understanding of capital investment governance, financial performance metrics, and benefits realization.

·         Track record in optimizing portfolio decision-making using data-driven insights.

·         Hands-on experience with portfolio analytics, KPI dashboards, and predictive modelling.

·         Proficiency in tools like Power BI, Tableau, Excel (advanced), SAP, PMO365, or similar enterprise systems.

·         Ability to translate complex data into executive-level insights and recommendations. 

·         Proven track record of supporting investment portfolios and capital projects successfully.

·         Experience managing senior stakeholders up to and including EGM level.
