We’re entering an exciting phase of growth, and we’re looking for a Lead Civil/Structural Engineer to help us lead the way. This role will see you participating in an engineering team who provide technical expertise across the Projects portfolio. You and the team will work with internal / external stakeholders and Design Delivery Partners and Construction Delivery Partners to ensure projects are delivered in a cost-efficient way and to high standards of quality.

This role is based in Southbank and is part of our Engineering Solutions team within our Development Engineering line of business.

What you’ll be doing in this role:

• Develop and/or review scopes, review detailed design and installation scope of works
• Provide technical support into Customer and Company initiated projects across AusNet’s Electricity   distribution networks
• Apply technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projects
• Provide input into Civil and Structural designs and provide technical engineering advice for brownfield and greenfield substation and lines projects
• Provide technical input into staging, constructability, operability and maintainability (COM) and safety in design reviews
• Work closely with specialist engineers including Primary/Secondary and Lines teams and design partners to identify opportunities to develop new or improved standards
• Simplify complex engineering analysis for non-engineers (e.g. summarising key decision-making during scoping and delivery of detailed design)
• Support the Engineering Solutions management team by providing mentoring, informal training and support to other engineers
• Take ownership of process improvement initiatives, specification and standard improvements and develop new methods where necessary

You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (preferably with Structural Engineering experience)
• Extensive experience working in Utilities, in the capacity of civil engineering design or delivering substations projects
• Strong understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principals
• Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support colleagues and team members
• Proven capability in development of concepts and/or delivery of designs
