Building customer, community and stakeholder support for delivering greenfield transmission, generation and load connections, storage infrastructure, aggregated DER and clean mobility solutions.

 

The Land and Property Lead will manage access, acquisition, and tenure review for AusNet's Connections Infrastructure projects, aligning these efforts with strategic organisational goals. This role encompasses stakeholder engagement, risk identification, contract management, and regulatory compliance to effectively support and drive growth.

 

With a 3/2 Hybrid split Office / WFH, this role can be based in Melbourne CBD and is part of the Development & Future Networks team. 

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Review and advise on property matters including land acquisition, land tenure issues and property transactions such as leases, licences, permits and easements
  • Collect and interpret title information, such as covenants, encumbrances and caveats
  • Lead negotiations to secure land agreements by aligning project benefits with stakeholder interests,
  • Assess Land risks in calibrations with planning, community and stakeholder sentiment and reputation
  • Develop and implement strategies for engaging affected stakeholders
  • Maintain records and information management requirements
  • Follow policies and best practice industry guidelines for engagement, land access and acquisition.

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Bachelor's degree in Legal, Business Administration, Real Estate or related field
  • IAP2 Certification is preferred.  
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Land or Property specialist, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
  • Experience in the Energy or Utilities sector is advantageous
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping software.
  • Understanding of Land and Property Law, including easements and subdivisions
  • Negotiation skills: effective negotiation to achieve the best possible outcomes
  • Legal and regulatory knowledge: understanding compliance requirements.
