As Head of HSEQ Enablement, you’ll lead a team of subject matter experts and play a pivotal role on the Safety Leadership Team. This is a transformation-focused role—driving change while delivering operational excellence. You’ll combine strategic vision with hands-on execution to position HSEQ as a true business enabler. Your impact will include:

 

  • Strategic & Cultural safety leadership lead implementation of the strategy for HSEQ across AusNet.
  • Risk Management & Assurance – Oversee safety and operational risk management processes including oversight of risk registers. Collaborate to design assurance programs assurance programs to validate safe, compliant operations, analyse data for trends and improvements, and foster a learning culture.
  • Performance Management & Analytics - lead incident trend analysis, and implement governance structures that enable transparent reporting and informed decision-making.
  • Environment – Oversee environmental management systems, ensure ISO compliance, and champion sustainability initiatives that reduce operational impact.
  • Well-being & Return to Work – Design proactive well-being programs, lead return-to-work strategies, and collaborate with HR to embed health and safety into the employee experience.
  • Training & Capability – Build and govern HSEQ training frameworks, ensuring competency development and supporting field leaders with tools to strengthen capability.
  • Delivery Partner Management – establish end to end delivery partner management frameworks.

 

Your first 6–12 months? Big impact.

 

  1. Lead critical risk programs to reduce incidents and lift safety performance.
  2. Define what good looks like for delivery partners—and set the standard.
  3. Launch our HSEQ strategy, laying the foundation for a five-year transformation.

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Proven senior HSEQ leadership experience in complex or high-risk industries.
  • Strong Safety Risk Governance and Systems background would be ideal.
  • A strategic thinker who can roll up their sleeves and deliver operational outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards, WHS legislation, and environmental regulations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and change leadership skills.
