Title:  Head of HSE Enablement

Location:

Victoria, Australia

Employment Type:  Permanent Full Time
Description:

Shape how HSE works across AusNet. Lead the frameworks, critical risk approach, capability and insights that turn strategy into safer, stronger operational outcomes.

We bring the energy!

Through purpose and people, not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.

We’re looking for an experienced Head of HSE Enablement to take on a significant enterprise leadership role within our People & Safety function.

This isn’t a traditional operational HSE leadership role. You’ll shape the enterprise architecture that enables effective HSE performance, setting frameworks, systems, governance and specialist approaches while partnering with leaders who own and manage operational risk.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence the next stage of AusNet’s HSE maturity, strengthening our approach to critical risk, control effectiveness, organisational learning, capability and data-led decision making.

About the role

Reporting to the GM HSE, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary HSE Enablement function spanning critical risk, contractor safety, environment, psychosocial and occupational health, injury management, management systems, governance, data and technical capability.

Your remit will include:

  • Shaping enterprise HSE frameworks and systems, translating strategy into practical standards, governance and implementation approaches.
  • Leading our critical risk and control approach, strengthening how material HSE risks, critical controls and control effectiveness are understood and managed.
  • Turning data and learning into insight, connecting incidents, assurance, risk and performance information to identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Setting enterprise approaches across key HSE disciplines, including environment, contractor safety, psychosocial and occupational health, injury management and technical capability.
  • Setting AusNet’s enterprise approach to contractor and delivery partner HSE, working across Procurement, Commercial and operational teams to strengthen risk ownership, expectations and assurance.
  • Building enterprise HSE capability, strengthening competency, learning pathways and technical governance.
  • Leading a multidisciplinary specialist team, building capability, succession and strong partnerships across AusNet.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an established senior HSE leader who can operate at both the strategic and practical level. You’ll be comfortable influencing senior leaders, navigating complexity and driving change where operational accountability sits outside the HSE function.

We’re looking for a strong combination of:

  • Senior HSE leadership experience in a complex, high-risk environment
  • Strong expertise in critical risk, critical controls and enterprise HSE management systems
  • Experience developing enterprise frameworks, governance and performance approaches
  • Strong data, systems and analytical thinking, with the ability to turn complex information into practical insight
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary specialists and building technical capability
  • Strong influencing skills and credibility with senior operational and functional leaders
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and strong knowledge of applicable HSE legislation, regulatory requirements and relevant ISO management system standards

The AusNet experience is all about…

  • Growing your impact: We’ll support you to build your career through real opportunities and strong connections.
  • Solving some of the most complex energy challenges of our time: We love unpacking complex challenges in clever ways and looking at things differently.
  • When life happens, knowing we’ve got your back: Whether it's life's big moments or the unexpected little ones, we get it - sometimes you just need to be there.

We’re committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce. We believe different perspectives are essential to our success, and we encourage all applicants to apply. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, we're happy to discuss how we can support you.
