Title: Group Leader, Civil Structural Transmission Lines
Victoria, Australia

We bring the energy!
Through purpose and people - not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.
We all want a future of energy we can be proud of. With us you can.
As Group Leader, Civil, Structural & Transmission Lines Engineering, you'll lead a high-performing team of civil, structural and transmission lines engineers, playing a key role in delivering critical transmission substation and lines projects that help power Victoria's future.
You'll guide your team in providing project engineering and technical support across the delivery of transmission substation and transmission lines projects, working closely with primary and secondary engineering teams, Project Managers and Design Delivery Partners, as well as a broad network of internal and external stakeholders. Together, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard of quality, supporting reliable and sustainable energy outcomes for our communities.
Reporting to the Manager, Design Management, this role sits within the Transmission Delivery team and is based in Southbank, placing you at the heart of shaping how we deliver infrastructure that enables the energy transition.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction to a team of civil, structural and transmission lines engineers, building capability and ensuring successful delivery of engineering outcomes across a diverse project portfolio.
- Oversee the management and delivery of high-quality civil, structural and transmission lines designs across transmission projects, ensuring outputs meet scope, quality, timing and safety expectations.
- Review and guide complex engineering designs and technical solutions, acting as a trusted technical authority on critical engineering issues relating to transmission substations, transmission lines and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure scopes, specifications and deliverables are clearly defined and that Design Delivery Partners produce high-quality, compliant outputs aligned to standards and project requirements.
- Work closely with primary and secondary engineering teams, Project Managers and broader stakeholders to ensure designs are well-integrated, constructible, operable and aligned to project needs.
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks while driving efficient, cost-effective solutions, including opportunities for design optimisation, innovation and standards deviations where appropriate.
You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil, Structural or Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
- Registered Professional Engineer in Victoria (RPEV) required, or eligibility to obtain registration.
- Detailed technical knowledge and extensive experience in electricity network engineering, with sound understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering and delivery environments.
- Deep technical knowledge and experience in civil, structural and/or transmission lines engineering, preferably within transmission network infrastructure projects.
- Ability to simplify complex engineering concepts and technical analysis for non-engineering stakeholders to support informed decision making.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, commercial acumen and an understanding of project constraints to identify practical solutions that balance network, customer and community needs.
- Detailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principles, with extensive design and construction knowledge covering performance, functionality, operation, maintenance and risk management.
