Through purpose and people - not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.

Looking for growth? We’ve got just the challenges to get stuck into.

We’re looking for a Group Corporate Accountant to join our Finance General Ledger team, playing a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of our financial reporting in a capital‑intensive, highly regulated environment.

This role is well suited to a technically strong accountant who enjoys working close to the detail, improving processes, and partnering with stakeholders across finance and operations.

The Role

As the Group Corporate Accountant, you’ll be the subject matter expert for the acquire‑to‑retire lifecycle of fixed assets, with responsibility for asset accounting, month‑end close activities, and balance sheet integrity. You’ll work closely with finance and operational stakeholders to ensure the asset register is accurate, timely, and well governed.

This role has a primary focus on fixed assets (approximately 75%), with the remaining scope covering financial accounting (25%).

  • Managing the clearance of Assets Under Construction (AUC) into the asset register
  • Processing asset additions, retirements, transfers, service life reviews, and journals
  • Preparing and completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Identifying and resolving system and process issues impacting financial accuracy
  • Supporting audit processes and resolving audit findings
  • Reviewing and improving processes, with a focus on automation and data quality
  • Contributing to month‑end close activities alongside the broader General Ledger team

What you will be doing in this role:

You’ll bring a strong foundation in accounting, with experience working in large‑scale finance systems and an interest in understanding how accounting applies within a complex, asset‑heavy environment.

You will have confidence working with large volumes of data, and a genuine interest in transforming how asset accounting is done.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, but also sees opportunities to improve, automate, and modernise processes

You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for:

  • A CA or CPA qualification and a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience with SAP (ECC or S/4HANA) or similar enterprise finance systems
  • Exposure to project or capital accounting, ideally within a utilities, infrastructure, or asset‑intensive environment
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify when things don’t look right
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with experience improving or automating processes
  • Confidence working with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
