In this role, you’ll be out in the field, carrying out routine and emergency patrols of distribution lines and easements. You’ll assess vegetation risks, check contractor work, and work closely with landowners to maintain safe clearances around electrical assets. You’ll also play a part in emergency response and support long-term vegetation and easement management plans.

 

You’ll take responsibility for monitoring and negotiating vegetation removal, ensuring it’s done efficiently and effectively. Along the way, you’ll provide support to the Operations Manager and the Distribution & Vegetation Delivery Team, helping maintain compliance, safety, and strong relationships with stakeholders.

 

The role is based in AusNet’s Wodonga area which includes the Alpine, Indigo, Towong, Wangaratta and Wodonga shires. The role will typically require field-based travel 5 times a week with some office work from time to time.

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:   

  • Communicate & negotiate with landowners for Hazard /Reliability vegetation management activities
  • Investigate and resolve escalated customer complaints
  • Conduct timely & accurate assessments of Hazard and Reliability programs as required of vegetation in combination of AusNet’s Distribution Network
  • Undertake audits of contractor Vegetation Management areas (VMA) to identify the level of compliance to treatment plans
  • Monitor the performance of VMA treatment Plans
  • Ensure all works conducted are performed safely and conduct safety audits on vegetation crews
  • Undertake routine and emergency patrols of lines, gathering vegetation and asset data

 

Requirement:

 

  • Formal qualification of Cert III in Arboriculture including AHCARB408 Perform a ground-based tree defect evaluation or equivalent.
  • A desire to undertake Certificate V in Arboriculture.

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:   


  • Experience in the utility industry
  • Experience in tree assessment and electrical transmission & distribution systems is desirable.
  • Ability to work in an environment that requires some local decision making in relation to work being undertaken and negotiations with other stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Enjoys working outside & is physically fit, able to walk several kilometres each day.
