In this role, you’ll be playing a critical hands-on role in the field, conducting routine & emergency patrols of our transmission lines and easements, assessing vegetation risks, auditing contractor work, and engaging with landowners to ensure safe clearances around our electrical assets. You’ll also support emergency response efforts and contribute to long-term vegetation and easement management strategies.

 

This role requires occasional travel, a Victorian driver’s license and is field based 3-4 times a week. The preffered location is Ballarat or Benidgo. 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:   

  • Interpret Lidar data to prioritise work on the Transmission network
  • Undertake Assessment of vegetation clearances around Distribution assets
  • Undertake audits of contract personnel to identify the level of compliance to HS&E and quality requirements
  • Undertake minor environmental works using hand tools, herbicide application equipment and chainsaws.
  • Organise Authorities/Stakeholders for external contractors working adjacent to AusNet Service’s assets.
  • Provide assistance to the Transmission Vegetation Operations Lead in allocating tasks to contractors and managing contractor performance during routine and in emergency situations.

Requirement:

  • Formal qualification of Cert III in Arboriculture or equivalent, desire to undertake Cert V.

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:   

  • Experience in the utility industry
  • Experience in tree assessment and electrical transmission & distribution systems is desirable.
  • Ability to work in an environment that requires some local decision making in relation to work being undertaken and negotiations with other stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Enjoys working outside & is physically fit, able to walk several kilometres each day.
