Become part of a critical team that will guide Ausnet to rapidly mature and provide outstanding capability, whilst ensuring cross-business coordination and collaboration. As the Emergency Manager you will lead and deliver an uplift in the organisation’s emergency management capability that supports both crisis and emergency level responses.  

 

In this role you will be responsible for leading and delivering a cultural change program, along with the uplift required to drive operational excellence in emergency management. You will provide technical subject matter expertise to support the implementation of best practice and embedding of lessons identified from post incident reviews. This role will also monitor compliance to emergency management obligations across all operational and functional areas. 

  

With a 3/2 hybrid split office / WFH, this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Group Operations team. 

  

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to: 

 

  • Lead and support the incident response to emergencies, including providing out of hour's support, if required, during events.  
  • Manage, embed and sustain a best practice crisis and emergency management framework, (including people capability, process design and supporting system infrastructure). 
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance practices relating to emergency management. 
  • Deliver solutions to address AusNet's emergency management needs with internal staff, contract suppliers and key agencies.  
  • Development and maintenance of annual schedule of emergency management activities including external workshops, internal and external exercises, and training delivery. Support the delivery of these events as required.  
  • Maintain an ongoing state of preparedness to respond to emergencies (having oversight of the Incident Management Team, Crisis Management Team, and specialist strike teams). 
  • Ensure compliance with legislative obligations (state and federal)  

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: 

 

  • Relevant experience (5-10 years) and/or tertiary course in emergency management, crisis management or organisational resilience. 
  • Experience in delivering emergency response capability and uplift programs.  
  • Proven ability to bring about cultural change, lead process development and operational excellence in emergency response.  
  • Ability to support the delivery of critical services to the community during emergency management circumstances  
  • Operational experience or expertise in utilities or other critical infrastructure sector.  
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and legislation that relate to resilience and emergency management, 
  • Highly developed stakeholder management capability with strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proven experience leading work across functional areas within an organisation to drive and deliver outcomes
