Play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and secure delivery of electricity to consumers. This position involves designing and implementing business and IT systems within the infrastructure and telecommunications domains, while aligning with the broader architecture across all domains.

 

The IT Architecture is vital for the efficient and secure delivery of electricity to consumers. This role involves developing and implementing business and IT architecture and systems within the infrastructure and telecommunications domains, ensuring alignment with the broader architecture across all domains.

 

The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor, collaborate with cross-functional business and IT teams, drive innovation, and ensure alignment with business goals. 

 

With a 3/2 Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank Fresh Water Place and is part of the Digital and Technology Team

 

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
 

  • Contribute to the IT architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's overall vision
  • Collaborate with senior executives, IT leaders, and business units to understand strategic priorities within the energy and network domain and translate these into long-term IT goals and roadmaps
  • Design and maintain the enterprise IT architecture within the infrastructure, telecommunications, and OT networking domain, including data centre infrastructure, servers, storage, network (LAN/WAN/Mesh), industrial networks (OT), cloud, and telecommunications systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and consistency across IT and OT environments
  • Establish, promote, and uphold architectural standards, policies, and best practices that support agility, scalability, and resilience
  • Optimise resources/cost within the infrastructure and telecommunications domain and cross domains (e.g. infrastructure consolidation, virtualisation, utilisation, IT spending)
  • Work closely with business units, operations, and engineering teams to understand their requirements and develop effective architectural solutions
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to IT architecture, cybersecurity, and data privacy within the energy and network domain
  • Address architectural risks or misalignments with system design and regulatory requirements, providing guidance and recommendations on acceptable or residual risks for business acceptance

 

You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field (master’s degree preferred)
  • Extensive experience in IT architecture, including hands-on design and implementation.
  • Extensive experience with Operational Technology (OT) networking, including protocols like Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols used in industrial environments to ensure robust OT networking.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems (ICS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems
  • Experience in virtualisation technologies, particularly VMware vSphere and vCenter
  • Experience with telecommunications technologies specific to OT environments, such as private LTE, microwave, and radio systems
  • Background in energy utilities or similar industries.
