The Western Renewables Link Project (WRL) is the largest transmission build of its kind in more than three decades. WRL is a critical piece of transmission infrastructure required to deliver energy from wind and solar farms in western Victoria to homes across the state and to the National Electricity Market.
In this role, you'll be managing and supporting Cultural Heritage Programs for major projects, including indigenous and historic heritage approvals. You'll be the go-to expert, providing timely advice on cultural heritage matters and offering technical guidance to cultural heritage advisors, delivery partners during construction, and the project design and land teams. You'll also play a key role in assisting the Cultural Heritage Manager with the completion of the EES Impact Assessment and the multiple Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs).

With a 3/2 Hybrid split Office / WFH, this role can be based in Flinders Street CBD, Development & Future Networks team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Oversee consulting Cultural Heritage Advisors including quality and timeliness of deliverables
- Provide technical advice and review of Cultural Heritage Assessments for EES and assessments/approvals required under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and Victorian Heritage Act 2017.
- Build and maintain relationships with communities, government agencies, Aboriginal communities, landowners and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance through actively engaging with stakeholders and maintains awareness of relevant legislation, laws, regulations, standards, codes and AusNet policies and procedures.
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Experienced Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Advisor/Archaeologist, Registered Heritage Advisor.
- Higher-Level (Tertiary) Qualifications in heritage (or related disciplines)
- Practical experience in a consulting/client role.
- Project Management experience with Cultural Heritage Management Plans and EES assessments.
- Knowledge and experience working with and understanding the heritage legislation and associated statutory guidelines in Victoria and other states, including the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, Aboriginal Heritage Regulations 2018, and Victorian Heritage Act 2017.
- Awareness and knowledge of relevant Commonwealth environmental and heritage legislation, and associated regulations and guidelines.
- Travel within Western Victoria with the potential for extended overnight travel
- Driver’s license is essential due to driving and field work.
