We’re entering an exciting phase of growth, and we’re looking for a Contract Specialist to help us lead the way.
As Contract Specialist (Transmission Delivery), you’ll be responsible for providing timely and accurate support to the Project Managers in the effective contractual management of capital delivery projects to deliver the best commercial outcomes.
You will support by proactively advising and assisting Project Managers in the interpretation of contractual events and communications, understanding and quantification and forecasting of contractual risks, ensuring that project teams and delivery partners comply with commercial and contractual obligations.
This hybrid role (Office/WFH) is based in Southbank, Melbourne, and sits within our Transmission Delivery team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Management and advising on contract variations including quantum and entitlement
- Engaging with project team to draft contractual correspondence
- Development and management of project risks registers to help inform accurate project forecasting via sound contingency management.
- Use of Monte Carlo risk simulation to inform risk and contingency allowance at a project level
- Understanding key contractual and commercial risks across the portfolio
- Challenge contractors when appropriate on the quality and accuracy of contractual and commercial communications and submissions
- Input and support at pre-contract stage to identify and mitigate contractual ambiguities
- Engaging with project team to complete delay and cost assessments
- Attend project meetings and represent AusNet from a commercial perspective
- Provide support on commercial elements of tender evaluations and assessments
- Work with internal and external technical teams to analyse cost impacts for potential variations to project scope of schedule
You don’t need to tick every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Demonstrated experience in quantity surveying, contract administration or commercial management within the construction, infrastructure or utility industry
- Experience and understanding of contractual risk awareness and quantification
- Understanding of various risk modelling techniques
- High level organisational skills and demonstrated effectiveness handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, managing timeframes and meeting deadlines
- Strong understanding of various forms of contract and procurement routes
- Knowledge of SAP, Power BI and risk analysis tools, advantageous
- Knowledge and experience in the use of contract management platforms (e.g. Procore)
- Sound understanding of project management practices and techniques
- Experience in drafting contractual communications
- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Engineering, Project Management or Quantity Surveying) preferred
