We bring the energy – through purpose and people.
Not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.
As Connections Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Victoria's energy future by managing strategic connections to AusNet's transmission network. Acting as the key commercial interface for customers, you will lead connection enquiries, negotiations, and agreements for major generation, load, and infrastructure projects, ensuring customer outcomes are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and commercially.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in Southbank, Melbourne, with a hybrid work arrangement (office/WFH) and ad hoc travel to site and is part of the VIC Transmission Connections Team.
A current Australian Driver's Licence is required.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Lead customer engagement for transmission network connection enquiries and applications across Victoria
- Manage negotiations and contractual arrangements for major generation, load, and market connection projects
- Deliver timely, compliant, and commercially sound connection solutions that create value for customers and AusNet
- Manage and respond to connection enquiries from AEMO, generators, distribution businesses, data centres, VicGrid, and other large energy users
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders and customers
- Collaborate across engineering, legal, regulatory, finance, and project teams to progress connection opportunities from enquiry through to delivery
- Assist in the development of business processes, policies and procedures in relation to network connections and augmentations
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Proven experience managing complex transmission network connections, including major load and generation projects
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience negotiating contracts, agreements, and customer outcomes
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities, delivering high-quality business cases, approvals, offers, contracts, and associated documentation
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse customer groups
- Sound knowledge of the National Electricity Rules (NER) and their application to network connections
- End-to-end project management experience, from concept and development through to commissioning and operations
- Broad understanding of engineering, project delivery, finance, legal, and governance disciplines
