The purpose of this role is to lead the core asset management and optimisation activities for all assets managed by Distributed Energy (DE) division.

 

The Asset Optimisation Lead within the Distributed Energy Team is responsible for leading and enhancing the performance, reliability, and value of all Distributed Energy portfolio’s assets. This role focuses on driving operational improvements through strategic asset management practices, service contractor models, advanced data analytics and innovative solutions. The role also involves close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes for the asset portfolio and the broader energy grid.

 

This role requires a deep understanding of Solar and Battery operations, Front of the meter and behind the meter renewable systems, Australian Energy Markets, VPPs, and related technologies

 

With a 2/3 Hybrid split Office / WFH, this role can be based in Melbourne CBD and is part of the Development & Future Networks team. 

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Asset performance and optimization to monitor, analyse, and optimize the performance of NEM registered BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), SAPS (Stand-alone Power Systems), Microgrids, PPA systems such as large roof top solar systems and batteries, and Clean Mobility equipment, to maximize efficiency, reliability, and return on investment.
  • Development, implementation and continuous improvement of asset optimisation strategy and market trading strategy for scheduled semi-scheduled generators and virtual power plants (VPP)
  • Development of operational procedures, processes, and governance documentation and implementation of an integrated asset management system
  • Data analysis and reporting by leveraging data analytics to assess asset health and performance, providing regular reports and actionable insights to internal teams and stakeholders for continuous improvement.
  • Strategic asset management to develop and implement long-term asset management strategies aligned with Mondo business goals, focusing on optimizing asset lifecycle, reducing operational costs, and enhancing sustainability.
  • Risk and compliance management to identify and mitigate risks associated with asset operations to comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Manage new generator registration and compliances with all relevant stakeholders particularly with the DNSP, AEMO, AER and ESC
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks, maintenance contract management and continuous improvement of contract performance

 

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or other relevant field
  • Asset Management or relevant certifications is desirable
  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in electricity industry
  • 8 years’ experience managing assets in the National Energy Market is high regarded.
  • Proven experience in asset optimisation and management, operations, maintenance, and contract management in the energy sector for DER, BESS and C&I renewable systems
  • In-depth knowledge of the regulatory environment for renewable energy systems, and grid operations in the NER (National Electricity Rules) and AEMO/ESC generator connection process and procedures
  • Knowledge of energy markets, wholesale market, ancillary services market, generator exemptions, scheduled generators, semi-scheduled generators
  • Data analytical acumen to review asset performance management (Generator Compliance Management) predictive maintenance arrangements
  • Contract management and commercial skills in managing suppliers, contractors and consultants to enable successful delivery of projects.
  • Management of relevant financial targets
