We have amazing opportunities currently available for you in Specialist, Senior and Access Planning Coordinator roles that will be responsible for overseeing the scheduling, coordination, and facilitation of planned electricity distribution & sub transmission network.

Your focus will be on ensuring the safety of personnel, the public and the plant, while also meeting organisational targets, minimising costs, rework, and the impact on customer supply reliability.

With a Hybrid split, this role can be based in any of our major depots and is part of the Access & Outage Planning Team

 

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

 

  • Supporting the scheduling and coordination of network access requests across the electricity distribution and sub transmission networks
  • Facilitate safe and secure access to the network for planned works (e.g. for maintenance or installation of assets)​.
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of network operations, switching arrangements & network topology.
  • Develop, assess, modify and submit high quality, accurate and effective Switching Schedules for approval for planned and emergency works.
  • Review and approve network access applications and switching schedules.
  • Liaise with field resources, HV customers as well as other authorities (as required) to ensure effective planning of network access requests.
  • Assess, develop and submit customer planned outage notifications.
  • Take action to minimise customer impact from planned outages, balancing number of customers against operational cost and risk in line with company procedures and policy.
  • Liaise with the Customer and Community Engagement Team regarding planned outage notifications ensuring business and customer needs are satisfied.
  • Ensure all activities are executed to achieve safety and environmental targets with a culture of continuous improvement fostered across all areas of performance.


You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

 

  • Training or qualification in Electrical Engineering, Diploma/Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering, Electrical trade or any equivalent is highly desirable or comparable industry experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Electricity Distribution & sub transmission Network elements, operational policies, procedures, reporting and codes of practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Code of Practice on Electrical Safety in the VESI (The Blue/Green Book), supplementary Instructions, operating principles, procedures and practices and or relevant experience with working in a VESI environment
  • Basic knowledge of construction, maintenance and testing activities associated with system plant.
  • Electrical operational switching knowledge associated with an electricity distribution network.
  • Electrical operational knowledge to enable writing of switching schedules to accommodate AusNet Services policies and procedures related to safe access to the electricity network.
  • Applied experience with a Distribution Management System advantageous.
  • Demonstrated owner’s mindset to prioritise decisions that put AusNet first, assessing and managing risk, considering how actions contribute to AusNet’s brand, reputation (public view, regulators, shareholders) and success.
  • Stakeholder management experience in liaising with entities who have high voltage connections.
