Job description:

The Data Services team provides specialist LiDAR and spatial services externally to the powerline industry, and internally to AusNet Services. The Electronic Engineer role will contribute to the successful completion of Data Services projects through the design and implementation of real-time field capture systems within suitable engineering and survey frameworks.

This is an excellent hand on role within a specialist team based in Collinwood will see you:

  • Design, build and maintain electronic components used in surveying equipment
  • Assemble components of surveying equipment including lighting, wiring and localisation systems
  • Design and implement real-time field surveying systems within suitable electrical engineering and survey frameworks
  • Undertake light fabrication and wiring of instrumentation and power supplies
  • Provide relevant technical advice to project teams
  • Undertake surveying and spatial data processing (e.g. GIS and other) activities
  • Liaise with project managers and customer project representatives

To be successful in your application, a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Geomatics or equivalent in a related discipline is preferred[SP1]  but not essential.


Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent in a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in electronic components integration (as used within Data Services survey deployments)
  • Experience in light fabrication (soldering) and wiring of instrumentation and power supplies
  • Proven experience in working in a customer focused organisation, providing excellent internal and external customer service;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
  • Experience in setting and managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Familiarity with systems including GPS, data capture software and GIS is an advantage
